01

Challenge

The research team needed to validate a next-generation network protocol (New IP / Flex IP) on constrained devices in a real smart-campus scenario. A door lock is the archetypal constrained device: little compute, a tight power budget, and sensitive to latency and reliability.

02

Approach

  • Adapted the Flex IP variable-length addressing protocol stack on both the smart lock and the gateway, and built the control link between them
  • Designed an end-to-end control experiment around campus access control: unlock command dispatch, status reporting and exception handling
  • Debugged jointly with the research team and delivered the experiment data and conclusions

03

Result

Completed the world’s first Flex IP smart-campus smart-lock control experiment, validating the new protocol’s feasibility on constrained devices and providing a basis for subsequent campus-scale deployment.
